What To Consider When Choosing A College?

You may have heard of the growing trend of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). These are free online classes accessible to everyone and provide opportunities for people to learn new skills. These classes tend to be offered by college professors from colleges and universities from around the world.
High school students can use MOOCs as an opportunity to gain exposure to different academic areas. Many students take advantage of MOOCs to dive deeper into subject areas. For example, I had a student that loved reading about Philosophy and considered majoring in it in college, so so he took some Philosophy MOOCs. As a result, he declared Philosophy as his major, he wrote about the classes he took in his activities list and had more to talk about in his college essay supplements.
Here are two very popular MOOC sites where you can sign up for classes with college professors from universities such as Harvard, UC San Diego, Wellesley, U of Michigan, Rice, Stanford, Johns Hopkins U, Duke, and much more.
Also, this is an interesting article about a few of the free MOOCs offered by Harvard 8 Harvard University courses you can take right now.
